To Lokpal or Not To: FAQs »
Yesterday Anna Hazare started his Fast Until Death v2.0. The country’s people have joined in the protest against corruption. The opposition is having a ball. Friends are part of the march/fast. Friends were arrested yesterday and released later in the day. For them, the Jan LokPal is the solution to India’s corruption.
A couple of months back when v1.0 took place, I joined the peace walk in Pune. But since then, innumerable incidents have made me lose faith. Here, @acorn has a few answers for those who’re still wondering what’s the hue and cry about. Commenters on the post still have blind faith in what Anna Hazare and IAC are trying to achieve with the LokPal.
I’ve had these questions for a while, and I see the sense behind @acorn’s answers. The public interest that this movement has generated should be kept up but used somewhere else. I still don’t think voting is the answer. There aren’t any worthy candidates for the middle-class to have faith in. At least I don’t. Yet.
